I just wanted to "thank you" for your invitation to participate in your GROVES HS Eco-Club presentation. I found it engaging, compelling, refreshing and a lot of FUN!
The Eco-Club solar energy project is a "stellar examplar" of a real-world renewable energy application in K-12 education.
Please convey my thanks to the students, Bill, Judy and Roberta for allowing us the opportunity to witness ALL that is RIGHT in our educational community.
I also want to commend you on the open-ended, inclusive "informal conversational" method you employed for your presentation. I believe it was extremly effective, pleasant and aptly produced many "learning moments" for all of the participants. Congratulations!
Perhaps there will be some follow-on opportunites that we briefly alluded to in our concluding conversations in the coming year.

In meeting with some Birmingham City Oficials on Thursday December20th to discuss requirements to install a Solar Air Heating system array on a local commercial rooftop, We broached the topic of the Groves High School EcoClub Courtyard project. A project I might add that they knew nothing about.(Hence another reason for the development of a Groves Ecoclub blogsite.) However this led into discussion that the city planning commision is on the exploratory hunt for people to present for the city on their various backgrounds of sustainable type development.This involves a wide array of topics so that the city of Birmingham can formulate a comprehensive approach to the "Greening of Birmingham". I was invited to speak on various Renewable Energy topics and intend to prepare to do so along with encouraging others to do the same. This is an opportunity for the Eco Club to also make a presentation to the City about their creation of the courtyard habitat and their exploration of ways to power the water features in the courtyard with renewable sources of energy.Some of the potential outcomes from such a presentation could be the empowerment of design teams from Groves and other schools to take part in the design of Natural features in public owned spaces in Birmingham.It is perfectly logical to assume that students who have excelled at creating such a marvelous habitat in the Groves High courtyard can go on to design and create similar features in city parks that power fountains with photovoltaic
"Sunstructures" they have designed and helped to install. This is not only a creative interchange between the students and the City,more importantly such an endeavor will prepare the students to take part in creating the new

While on the site visit the Parks and rec pages and visualize student teams designing natural habitats in a city park while pursuing fullfillment of an RFP from this site.

I attend Groves Hich School and I wanted to create a blog for our ECO club but, I have a couple questions before I get started.
A Group of people recently came to talk to the club about creating a blog just before break but, even after visiting the website, I do not completely understand the reason for createing a blog.
Also, when you guys spoke to us, you gave us permission to refer to your website in our transcript when aplying for a college. I want to make sure that this website is www.sendenergy.blogspot.com
I would like to know more information.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to the opportunity to develop a GROVES Eco-Club blog-site.
In answer to some of your questions; a blog-site (blog: short for web-log coined in 2004) is basically a centralized "subject-specific" virtual-space on the web that can be authored and accessed by many at their convenience, unlike e-mail or web-sites. You might think of a blog in terms of the e-mail of the 21st Century. Additionally, blogs allow you to simply add pictures and videos, links, etc. A blog-site is also an easy way for "communities of practice" (say the GROVES Eco-Club) to document, share and inform others of their "works in progress," interests and aspirations.
To create your blog-site I would suggest using Blogger at http://www.blogger.com (only because Blogger was acquired by Google recently so we will see some "very exciting" things developing here). You will also have to create a Google Mail account http://www.google.com to utilize Blogger. I will send you an invitation to Google Mail also.
Other things you will need to be prepared for will be of course the Title of your blog-site and additional e-mail addresses for the other Eco-Club members you will invite as authors, members, etc.
