Now more than ever, America needs to support entrepreneurs and start-up visionaries who are attempting to build break-through businesses. In order to maintain our place in the world, we need to innovate and develop new technologies that deliver a competitive advantage. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for someone with a brand new idea to get funded. This is because most investors are too conservative and too wedded to old world thinking. The American government showed leadership with the space program & the spin-off benefits are still being felt.
Developing the next generation of energy and transportation technologies is a matter of national security. The military industrial complex takes up nearly 1/2 of government spending. I find it very interesting that neither presidential candidate is questioning this massive amount of wasteful spending. If we can find $10 billion per month for Iraq and contemplate $700 billion to bail out banks and wall street, we can certainly find ways to seriously invest in our future.

I agree Roy, it is a curious thing when both candidates talk about change but promise more of the same. Which appears to be the demolition highway instaed of the hydrogen highway.Well it has always been time for America to live up to it's potential and as they say time waits for no one...
Say speaking of highways, in Europe some shippers are moving freight by sailboat on masse and there is plans to do the same for ocean travel in varied and interesting ways. I would like to know if anyone has had a recent discussion regarding the resurgence of clipper type ships which were the delivery trucks of the Great Lakes at one time.
